Jamyla Eunique Krempel is an award-winning writer, producer, filmmaker and educator working across film, audio and text. She’s based in the great city of Baltimore. Her work explores identity, the impact of place on an individual and the power of memory. Her intention is to tell stories that lead people to think, connect and laugh.
She’s worked in many formats and on various platforms, but storytelling has always been at the core. She’s been a radio reporter, producer and editor and has worked on the launch, production and distribution of more than 10 podcasts.
She has been involved in a number of projects for news organizations including: developing and implementing digital, broadcast, audience engagement and partnership initiatives; coordinating CMS rebuilds; co-editing writers; producing livestream events; and newsletter creation.
And then there was that stint in college where she was a circulation supervisor for the Capital Gazette newspaper. Long live physical media!
She’s been a Media and Communication Studies adjunct instructor at University of Maryland, Baltimore County since 2019 and has taught media literacy, storytelling and podcasting to high school students.
In 2024 she started Eunique Productions as she pursued film and audio freelance projects. That same year she began as production coordinator for the GIRL ISLAND: THE SANDY STONE STORY and made her first short film, DWELLING. She is a 2023-24 Saul Zaentz Innovation Film Fund Fellow and Grant awardee for the project. She has three feature scripts that she’s eager to make and is dreaming up her next concept.
